NODDY HOLDER ON THE WALL OF FAME

Wolverhampton's Civic Hall is 70 years old this year, to celebrate, it was decided to have "road signs" with the names of famous people, from the area, on a Wall Of Fame.

This event co-insided with the Express & Stars Spotlight Awards.

Former Slade frontman Noddy Holder became the 1st to have his name on the wall.

Several long term, old guard hardcore Slade fans turned up among them were Di,Gwen,Peter,John & myself.

We met up in the Moon Under Water in Wolves on Sunday afternoon, before meeting up with Claire & Si outside the Civic Hall.

Claire had Di & Gwen's tickets to get in, but shortly after Claire had given them to Gwen, she'd lost them, panic set in, but after a long search in her handbag Gwen pulled out the magic tickets.

We stood around for a while, reminiscing about Slade, sharing stories, we had a great time.

Claire shouted in delight as Nod turned the corner with former Tour Manager Graham Swinerton (Swin) and spouse Suzan:

Claire quickly got to Nod first, Nod being the true gentleman he is signed tickets, CD's without question, I spoke to Swin & Suzan, before Nod had some pics taken with other people, one wench even managed to plant a kiss.

After Nod and his party had entered the Civic Hall, we queued up on the red carpet and had our photo taken by the Express & Star.

Now Nod had signed Di's,Gwen's,Claire's & John's tickets over the ticket stubs that were about to be ripped off by the Civic Halls door staff, despite pleas from the girls, John folded his stub so that Nod's message was intact.

We then proceeded to the Bar, Steve Knight and his mate were already in, we had a chat before taking our seats, cheating, we sat together, even though we had seats in another part of the Civic.

The seats we were in overlooked the stage so I hung the official Slade T shirt over the balcony.

There were several awards presented, before another Black Country Hero took the stage, to a standing ovation, Blind Dave Heeley, who, ran 7 Marathons in 7 days on 7 continents.

There was a 20 minute "interlued" in which we were treated to some Ballroom Blitz by stars from BBC's Strictly Come Dancin.

Then, the moment we Slade fans had been waiting for, NODDY HOLDER once again gracing the Wolves Civic stage.

To be presented with his plaque.

For the Black Country "Wall Of Fame"

Noddy also presented his former Manager Maurice Jones with a plaque.

And to the Thorns Inn (beating the Robin2 in Bilston) It was the Thorns third award of the night.

And of course to the Wolves Civic.

After the final awards, we were allowed to sit and chat to Nod, have photographs taken & autographs signed (not that I did)I spoke to Swin & Suzan again instead of crowding Nod, I waited until he had a spare moment. I also spoke with Maurice Jones.

The Event was naturaly covered in the following days EXPRESS & STAR.
